The New Heisman Favorite

This past weekend the Georgia Bulldogs battled against Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC championship game. Tua Tagovailoa, Alabama's starting quarterback and Heisman hopeful, came into the game as the front-runner for college football's highest honor

Before this game, the odds of Tagovailoa winning the award were at -500. After that, the next closest Heisman finalist regarding odds was Oklahoma's quarterback Kyler Murray who had +350 before championship weekend.

After Saturday's matchup, Murray surpassed Tagovailoa having odds of -160 while Tagovailoa has +120. The reason for Murray passing Tagovailoa is because of Tagovailoa's performance against Georgia and also his injury.

Tagovailoa left Saturday's game with an ankle injury. Having his backup Jalen Hurts come in and steal the show and bring home the SEC Championship for the Tide. Tagovailoa also struggled throughout the game throwing two interceptions. On the brightest stage, Tagovailoa choked. The Heisman voter is not going to look to highly on his performance in a championship game.

However, coming into Saturday's game, Tagovailoa had 3,189 yards passing, a completion percentage of 70%, with 36 touchdowns. These stats are Heisman worthy. However, his meltdown in the SEC championship ruined his chances. The trophy should will be awarded to either Kyler Murray or Dwayne Haskins quarterback for the Ohio State Buckeyes. Moreover, my money is on Murray.

Murray who needed a final statement for the Heisman resumé came into the Big 12 Championship Game against hated rival Texas wanting revenge, and the opportunity proves he is the best quarterback in the country. Three touchdown passes, 379 yards passing, and a completion percentage of 73% Murray defiantly delivered and left his mark.

With Saturday's victory, Murray helped bring the Sooners back to the College Football Playoffs.

Oklahoma is set to play Alabama in the Orange Bowl on December 29th. Murray's season statistics significantly better than last year's Heisman Trophy winner, former Oklahoma Sooner quarterback Baker Mayfield. Murray has 4,053 yards passing, 40 touchdowns, completion parentage of 70.88%, 7 interceptions, 892 yards rushing, and 11 rushing touchdowns.

Dwayne Haskins who has the odds of +2500 of winning the award, coming off the win against Northwestern in the BIG10 Championship, has shown the Heisman voters that he should also be in the conversation with the other two contenders. Haskins threw for almost 500 yards, with a completion percentage of 82.9%, 5 touchdowns, and 1 interception. He tore up Northwestern's defense! Haskins has been on a tear all season throwing for 4,580 yards, 47 touchdowns, and completing 70% of his passes while being intercepted just eight times.

I see Murray going home with the Heisman Trophy this season due to Tagovailoa's fall in the SEC championship. Murray has been on a tear this entire season showing the whole country he is Bo Jackson 2.0.
